~~~~~
This series pulled me right in immediately and I finished the whole thing in one week (I was so lucky I finished the 3rd book on the even of the 4th ones release!). I’ve never been one for country, nor cowboys but man these books were some of the best romances. They take place in Alberta, near Calgary, and are written by a Canadian author (win!). I found each story so good and so unique from one another and I loved how each story can stand alone but yet tied in so closely together due to the characters. If you’re looking for a romance series to sweep you away this summer, look no further. Note: this isn’t a finished series, there is still one more book yet to come.
We mainly follow the Eaton brothers and two of their close friends as they fall in love but the point of view is pretty equal between each male lead and their love interest. Dual POV for the win! The first book hooks us in right away with the grumpy/sunshine and enemies to lovers vibes but Summer and Rhett went so much deeper than that. Summer was an extremely relatable character and I loved seeing her character growth. My favourite of the series was Cade and Willa’s story in book two which really drove home this series being a cozy read. I couldn’t get enough. The third book took a darker turn but had such healing themes and the final book really showed the writing growth throughout the series in both character development and plot.
Each character was so unique which I sometimes find rare in romances that have multiple books in a series. The main characters move to side characters as we move along and we get to see their further growth along the sidelines instead of saying goodbye to the characters altogether. There was also great build up for the characters yet to come. By the time we got to Powerless I felt so excited to hear Jasper’s story given the little tidbits we get of him earlier in the series. I also enjoyed that even when their books are done, the main characters still have room to grow in character. They still make mistakes they must atone for and that made it so realistic and relatable.
It’s hard to review these all together but if I reviewed them individually I’d never shut up. I highly recommend this series. It’s extremely addictive (I haven’t read this many books in a week since High School!) and a perfect cozy escape for the summer. Average 4.5 star rating for the full series, 5 stars for book 2 & 4 and 4 stars for books 1 & 3.
