5 Shows to Stream this Fall
Well, it's that time of year again when there's nothing to do but huddle inside and try to stay warm. I don't know about you but the weather where I live has been so, so cold this week and even being indoors feels chilly. It's the perfect time for blankets, hot chocolate, and some good TV. I haven't watched a lot of television the past few months but lately I've been catching up on it all and re-watching some old favourites. Here's my perfect Fall Watch List:
1. Schitts Creek
An extremely rich family suddenly find themselves broke and are forced to leave their entitled life of luxury behind and come together to rebuild their lives in the tiny run-down motel of their new home: Schitts Creek.
Ok, I was a little late to the game on this show, I didn't watch it till this past summer but it has quickly become one of my absolute favourite comedies on TV. Eugene Levy and Dan Levy partnered up to create this comedic gold. Also, it's CANADIAN! Incredible acting, amazing characters, a hilarious storyline, they deserved every award. They've also just released the final season on Netflix so it's the perfect time to watch it from scratch whether it's the first time or the 10th time!

2. Lovecraft Country
Atticus Freeman, a war veteran in 1954, teams up with his childhood friend and his Uncle George to embark on a perilous journey through the Jim Crow country to rescue Atticus' missing father. Along the way, they come across not only the dangers of southern hate but the supernatural as well.
I read the book earlier this month and reviewed it here. It was such a good spin on those old Lovecraftian tales, taking some of his racist ideas and turning it into an anti-racist tale. The supernatural in this story was what really blew my mind. It was creepy and exciting and adventurous all at once so as soon as I finished the book I had to dive into the show. I've only gotten through 2 episodes so far but I'm already extremely impressed with the adaptation. Plus it's a great show for this spooky season!

3. Gilmore Girls
Lorelai and her daughter and namesake, Rory, live in the small, friendly town of Stars Hollow. With a unique mother/daughter relationship, these two women try to navigate boys, schools, careers and other family affairs while living in a town where everyone knows everything and everyone.
I will always recommend this show. I re-watch it every few years and always around Oct/Nov as it's the perfect seasons to feel warm and cosy in Stars Hollow. It may be an old one, but it will always be a favourite. If you've never seen it, you need to. And if it's a favourite of yours as well, please share your favourite moments! (Personally, I like the episode with Jess and the swan).

4. The Alienist (The Angel of Darkness)
Newspaper illustrator John Moore, criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler and the ambitious Sara Howard (working as a secretary for new police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt) join forces to solve a series of gruesome murders taking place in New York during the 19th century.
This was an amazing show and it's been a century since season one was released but the second season is finally coming! It will be on Netflix on Thursday, Oct 22nd, 2020. A haunting, historical, true-crime drama to keep you hooked from episode one, it's one of the best TV shows on Netflix. You won't be able to look away. Warning: It can be slightly gruesome.

5. Unsolved Mysteries
Fusing signature elements from the original series with new immersive storytelling, this show masterfully shares the experiences of people who have lived through the unthinkable.
It's baaaaaaaack. If you haven't binged it already as soon as the new series came out, then now is a perfect time. The stories they chose in bringing this show back were perfect and haunting. My personal favourite was the French episode and I still can't stop thinking about it. This show did a lot of good in it's original run in drumming up new interest in cold cases and even using that intrigue in helping to solve some of the murders they featured, giving families closure and murderers justice they deserve. You won't be able to stop watching it. Also, the next six episodes are coming out next week!
